Week 9 Blog

This week I was working with memes, which is an item in the form of an image or video that is often spread using the internet and often altered in a humorous way. I often use the app called IFunny, which post funny stuff through-out the day often using memes. My inspiration came from IFunny, to use the Micheal Jordan meme of his sad face. Using an online meme generator I took the sad Jordan face, and made a little quote, “When you find out that your essay was due last week.” I did this because I happen to fall into this situation and turned in an essay a few hours late, cause partial credit to be taken. So i felt like the Jordan meme, figuratively but not literally crying about a few points off an essay.

Week 7 Post

This week I learned much about online collaboration and took away that people have made computers really smart. Sometimes a computer can do something on its own, so people have create the CAPTCHA, which is a small portion of an online sign-up form that allows people to be able to understand the letters or words asking where as another computer will not be able to recognize. So this can weed out any potential online virus or anything else threatening. The video where the man was talking to himself made me realize I once had larger goals like the child in the video and realizing the goals have only gotten smaller, like their easier to achieve. So this video is inspiring me to work harder towards those goals and possibly make those goals my past, with bigger more futuristic goals to have in the future.

Week 6 Copyright & Fair Use

Are copyright laws becoming a thing of the past? I believe that copyright laws are becoming harder to protect, because of the internet. with a copyright, the owner is supposed to have the right to use, copy, and grant others the right to use the work. For example with movies, a person can find movies that have been illegally downloaded on the internet. There are various websites that allow you to download or just watch the movie right off the website. Although there are sites like YouTube that will follow copyright laws and fair use. When a person posts to YouTube he grants the right for anyone to see his video but nobody can take that video and repost it or show it off publically without the consent of the owner.

Basically, a fair use is any copying of copyrighted material used for a limited and “transformative” purpose, For example, criticizing, or making a parody of a copyrighted work. Therefore, TV shows such as Ridiculousness or Tosh.0 can use videos posted to YouTube if they contact the account and find the videographer of the video. People have to follow the copyright laws, but is it getting to hard to follow.

Plagiarizing or Remixing, are they the same? Plagiarizing is taking a persons without changing anything at all. While remixing is switching up the words, and changing the beat or rhythms in a song. Some people claim that it should be plagiarisms although in most cases, the creator of the remix will still get permission from the original producer.

Week 5 Blog

The Association of Sports Illustrated Magazine is a publication of a sports magazine that shows the latest technology in sports and life that almost every guy can appreciate. You can find Sports Illustrated in many outlets like facebook, twitter, instagram, and even snapchat! A true fan can follow them with full trust because each account may have a person or  a team that makes post for the accounts. I would follow these accounts personally because they offer the entertainment I look for on social media. This weeks learning exercises were helpful because they taught how to use Symbaloo, the perfect website to quickly add all of a persons favorite sites creating quick access.

Week 2 Post

Twitter is an amazing source of knowledge that can be accessed very easily and by many people. Teachers and students are now using the tool to better themselves in teaching/ learning. Twitter allows for groups or a class to all follow a certain page that is needed for a class. Then the teacher can post things on twitter about the class or assignments. Twitter can be utilized in many ways including: Announcements, research, group chats, debates, blogs, and classroom learning.
